I Felt So BAD

I felt so bad for not saving up money doing check-up at government clinics while pregnant with bunny dear.

I felt so bad for not able to deliver bunny dear naturally.

I felt so bad that bunny dear is born with severe jaundice.

I felt so bad that i only managed to direct feed bunny dear during the first 2 days of hospital stay and yet so many people can do it for years.

I felt so bad that my breast milk supply had once again failed me and i am not able to fully breast feed bunny dear.

I felt so bad that i choose to had a few extra hours of sleep in the middle of the night instead of waking up, pumping to increase my breast milk supply.

I felt so bad that i once again didn't managed to convert to cloth diapers/CD and have to pollute the environment even more.

I felt so bad that i only managed to supply breast milk for merely 40 days.

I felt so bad seeing bunny dear vomiting milk after each feed.

I felt so bad that bunny dear is a fussy baby. Do i passed it to him when he is inside me?

I felt so bad for not taking good care of bunny dear and makes him suffers from stuffy nose.

I am such a bad mummy.

Jaundice

Jaundice is very common among Asian Newborn babies.

Jaundice means the yellow appearance of the skin and whites of the eyes that occurs when the blood contains an excess of the pigment called bilirubin.

Bilirubin is a natural product arising from the normal breakdown of red blood cells in the body and is excreted in the bile, through the actions of the liver.

Although jaundice is most often the result of a disorder affecting the liver, it can be caused by a variety of other conditions affecting, for example, the blood or spleen. It should be thoroughly investigated, so that the underlying cause can be identified and treated.

Both my kids were born with severe jaundice and were required to be under the UV light for 2 to 3 days. Bunny Dear's bilirubin level were at 250 when he is 2 days old. The level increases up to 265 when he is 8 days old (which is considered the peak days). Luckily the level decreased to 241 in day 9 and 205 in day 12.

Some tips from the doctor:
1) Formula milk actually helps to reduce the bilirubin level better than breast milk
2) Asian mom who are breast feeding, please reduce the intake of ginger and wine during the first few days or until the baby's bilirubin level dropped to a safe level.

Bunny Dear Join The Family on 30 September 2011

Bunny Dear join our family about 15 days earlier than the expected delivery date due to low level of amniotic fluids.

Everything happens just like when i am having Little Moo Moo where normal check up ends up with on the spot decision for a C-Sec to deliver the baby. I am stronger this time as i am well prepared for this. The amniotic fluids level were monitored for the past 2 weeks and my gynae had informed me of all the consequences before hand.

C-Sec is arrange on the same day as the Operation Theater and my Gynea is fully booked the next day. I drive myself to the hospital and admit myself while waiting for my hubby to rush to the hospital from his office. It's good that we had decided to stick with the same hospital.

Everything happens as expected and bunny dear is born 2 minutes later than Little Moo Moo's birth time.

I experienced a stronger feelings while the C-Sec is in progress this time. However, i recover faster and am able to walk on my own the very next day. I remember having a very hard time even to wake up from my bed last time.

Bunny Dear is down with severe Jaundice just like Little Moo Moo and had to stay an extra day under the UV light. It's really another heart breaking moment for me when i had to check out from the hospital without Bunny Dear.

Speedy recovery my bunny dear. Mummy will pray hard for you.

35 Weeks and counting

No.2 is officially 35 weeks and 4 days.

He is 2.4kg while i am 69.1kg (weight gain of roughly 5.5kg throughout this pregnancy)

No.2 is growing at a very good rate. He had gain 400g as compared to the last checkup 2 weeks ago.

My feet started to swell last week (which is quite norm during 3rd trimester).

I am glad that the swelling were gone this week. However, last check with the doctor shows that my amniotic fluid level is at the border line level. Is that why my leg is not swelling anymore? I really wonder.

I am drinking more water as advise by the doctor and hopefully this weeks checkup will shows some increase in the amniotic fluid level.

Kid Sings the Darnest Things

Little Moo Moo loves to sing and dance to music. She had been watching "High Five" and "Barney" since she is less than 1 years old. Recently, she starts to sing her very own song and the lyrics usually consists of anything that she is doing at that particular time. For example, when she is singing while playing with her puzzle, the lyrics of the song will includes dog, pig, cow, fire, turtle, car...etc that is shown on the puzzle. I tried to record it down but she always stop singing or refused to sing anymore when i am with the recorded.

Sinus during Pregnancy

Moo Moo was down with block nose, cough and slight fever 2 weeks after she recovered from Chickenpox and i caught the flu bug from her this time.

Being sick and pregnant is one of the most headache issues to ponder as there are limited medication available and it is usually unsafe to take the same medication that we had when we are not pregnant.

I had always had a very bad case of sinus. Whenever i was down with cough/running nose, it will usually takes me a very long time to recover even with Sinus medication. This time round, i am blessed to find the solution. My upline in USANA suggested that i increase the intake of Proflavanor and add in Poly C tablet to my daily supplements intake. During that time, my nose block is so severe that i can't really breath when i am talking. After taking 5 Proflavanor tablets two times within the same day, my nose block is totally cleared up! I took the Proflavanor tablets before bedtime and i managed to sleep through the night without any nose block issues. It really works like miracle and it is definitely better than my usual Sinus medication.

Moo Moo and Chickenpox

Moo Moo was down with Chickenpox on Saturday. Early morning when i bath Moo Moo, i saw about 10-20 blisters like red spots all over her body. Moo Moo was feeling great that morning. No fuzz, no fever just slight itch and she is as normal as usual. I thought it was some insect bites or allergies and hence apply only some insect bite lotion to the spots.

Throughout the day, Moo Moo had not show any signs of discomfort. She played with her nieces and nephews, watched TV, ate a big bowl of noodles for lunch, had her afternoon nap at 2:30pm to 5:00pm. She woke up as active as usual, we even went out for some bicycle ride and dinner. However, the red spots doesn't seems to subside throughout the day and hence we end up visiting the Doctor on Sunday morning.

The doctor confirmed that it is chickenpox. Chickenpox is caused by a virus called Varicella Zoster and toddler will still get chickenpox even after taking the vaccine at 1 years old. However, Kids who do get it after they've gotten the shot often get less severe cases, which means they get better quicker. If a kids gotten the shot at 1 years old and had not get chickenpox after age of 5, a second shot of vaccine is usually given to boost up the immune system.

New chickenpox usually stop appearing by the seventh day, though they may stop as early as the third day. It usually takes 10-14 days for all the blisters to be scabbed over and recovered.

The doctor prescribe Moo Moo with calamine lotion to soothes the itch. So far, Moo Moo had been doing well with the chickenpox. The only worries is on me as i am currently pregnant with No.2 and had not had any chickenpox before. I remember taking the vaccine about 10 years ago but can't really remember how many shot i had. Do read this article found here if you are interested to know more about Chickenpox During Pregnancy. Hoping for a fast recovery and zero infection.

Jigsaw Puzzle and Child Development

I am a jigsaw puzzle lover since i am young hence i introduce Moo Moo to jigsaw puzzle when she is merely 1 1/2 years old. I bought her a box of jigsaw puzzle which consists of 8 sets of 4 to 6 pieces each. At first, she won't have the patient to even sit down to finish 1 set hence the puzzle is used to teach her the different type of insects featured instead. Later, she started to gain interest on the ladybird image and started to work on it. However, i found that although there are merely 4 pieces for the puzzle, its quite hard for a toddler to actually put it in the correct manner.

Later on, i found a nice 12 piece puzzle during one of my visit to Tesco which cost merely RM2. Moo Moo played with the puzzle occasionally but had not really master it until recently. Moo Moo finally managed to finish the 12 piece puzzle with a little bit of guidance and hint from me. She had been playing with it every night before bedtime for the past 1 week and she will usually demand to replay at least 3 to 4 times per night.

Jigsaw puzzle is truly an educational toy for toddler. It helps to improves hand-eye coordination, develops shape/size recognition, develops logical thinking and perseverance attitude and enhances spatial relation skills and social skills.

I will definitely buy Moo Moo a new set of Jigsaw Puzzle soon.

Touching moment with Moo Moo

Moo Moo had a bit of diarrhea last Sunday. She had been poo pooing for at least 3 times since after dinner till bedtime.

Moo Moo and I was already in bed. I had actually dozed off while Moo Moo is still playing with my handphone. Suddenly, Moo Moo tell me that she wants to poo poo. She wake up by herself, walk to the bathroom, take off her pants and diapers, take out her potty, sit on the potty and do her big business.

I woke up from my sleep and went to check her out. When she saw me waking up, she demanded that i go back to sleep. I told her that i will need to help her with the clean up after her big business and yet she demanded again that i go back to sleep.

I felt so touch and blessed.

Moo Moo and Ants

Meal time is always like a war time between me and Moo Moo as she just can't get to sit still and eat properly. She loves to run about and end up dropping bits and pieces of her food on the floor.

Last Sunday, while Moo Moo was in her usual doings during her dinner time, a group of ants actually appears and started moving bits of the rice on the floor.

Me: Girl, you see? The ants are moving your rice.

Moo Moo was so angry to see what the ants are doing. She started to demand that i chase those ants away!

Me: Just let the ants move your rice. They also need to eat.

Moo Moo gets angrier and make a fuss.

Me: If you want to take back your rice, go do it yourself.

Moo Moo gets down from my lap and tried her best to stop the ants. She tried to touch the ants with her fingers but she is scared. At the end, hubby teaches her to blow the ants away! As soon as she learns the tactic, she starts doing it whenever she sees ants moving her food on the floor and she will then pick up the food and pass it to me.

Me: If you don't want the ants to come and move your food, please open up your mouth and eat properly.

It's really cute to see Moo Moo's reaction for such a small issues. Hope that she will learn from this lesson, sit properly and eat in a better manner for the next meal.

Health, Fertility and Supplements

It's always sad to get news of a miscarriage or fertility issues among friends and relatives. The woman is always the one that have to go through so much and get the most blame when issues like this happens. I always believe that it takes two to make a healthy baby. Both men and woman have to be responsible for this and should work together to find out the reason and also to find a solution to it.

According to the Malaysia Total Fertility Rates (2011 est), the fertility rates are decreasing for the last 10 years. Total fertility rate (2011 est) is standing at 2.67% as compared to 3.13% for year 2003.

What might be the issues behind this?

A study published in the April 2004 issue of the Journal of Reproductive Medicine, showed a correlation between fertility supplements and pregnancy rates. The double blind study (in which neither the researchers nor the subjects knew who was taking placebo and who was taking the fertility supplements) conducted at Stanford University, involved thirty women between the ages of twenty-four to forty-six, who had not been able to conceive. After five months, five of the fifteen women taking fertility supplements conceived, while there were no pregnancies in the placebo group.

In fact, research and clinical practice come down on the side of fertility supplementation for both aspiring parents. Regardless of which one of you has been diagnosed with an imbalance, increasing both partners' level of health has been linked with higher pregnancy rates. This is of course common sense-the healthier the genetic material, the healthier the child. To cite just one of the fertility related studies that validates this theory: A 1962 study published in the International Journal of Fertility found that miscarriage was more common with low sperm counts.

We need to have a healthy body and a healthy lifestyle to be fertile. Unfortunately due to our hectic lives, it is almost impossible to get all the nutrients we need from food alone. Besides, when i learn about the nutrient depletion from our food as compared to 10 years back, it freaks me out!

I would like to share two website i found from my online research, Nourishing Life and Fertile Heart that talks about health, fertility and supplements and hope that my friends, relatives and readers will benefit from it and be encourage to start a healthy life.

Immune Injection - Hepatitis A at 2 Years Old

Last Saturday, i finally brought Moo Moo for her Hepatitis A injection. She was supposed to get the injection when she is 2 years old. However, she had been on and off with fever, flu, cough for the first few months of her 2 years old mark. *Touch wood* finally she is sick free for the past whole month and hence it's time to bring her for the injection.

We reached the Doctor's clinic at around 9:30am. There were already a lot of patients waiting and we were No.10 on the waiting list. Moo Moo was weighted. She is now 11.5kg. She had gained 1.5kg in less than 2 months time. No wonder it's getting harder for me to lift her out of the car!

Moo Moo doesn't seems like herself as she had not been playing much at the clinic as usual. Maybe she got scared with all the cries from other babies that got their injection that morning. We waited for about 30 minutes and finally it's Moo Moo's turn. She didn't greet the doctor with her usual smiling face and had actually timid away from the doctor's hand shake and greetings.

Moo Moo laid sideways and the injection took less than 10 seconds. Moo Moo is really one brave girl. No whining nor crying as usual but she do complain of buttock pain.

After the injection, she is back to her usual self, waiting happily for her medicine at the counter. She will need to come back in 6 months time for the Hepatitis A booster. Something to note, toddler will not get fever after Hepatitis A injection unlike most of the immune injection hence no fever medicine is prescribed.

To award my brave little Moo Moo, we spend almost an hour playing at the nearby McDonalds indoor playground. She had a great time there and even managed to finish one whole set of Happy Meal Breakfast which consist of 1 Sausage McMuffin, 1 Fruit Cup and 1 cup of Ribena. She even walloped up some of my french fries and sundae while on our way home.

Milestone - Brushing her Teeth

Brushing Moo Moo's teeth has not been hard since birth.

I had started to introduce her with the Pigeon Training Toothbrush when she is about 15 months old. She loves to imitate us adult brushing our teeth and will usually bite hard to it and run around the room. *Parents, do be very careful as a toothbrush in a baby's mouth who are running around is very dangerous as baby might tripped, fell and hurt herself.

She had no problem holding on to the toothbrush and inserting it into her mouth. Later, i introduce her with baby toothpaste. Do be extra careful when choosing toddler toothpaste. A little fluoride is a good thing for your child's teeth, but swallowing too much of it over time can lead to a condition called fluorosis. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends waiting until your child is at least 2 to use fluoridated toothpaste. Hence, i bought her "First Teeth" (Note: It's quite expensive)

She is in love with it as she loves the taste of the toothpaste. She always ends up eating the toothpaste and asking for more rather than brushing her teeth.

Months of training goes by and she is on and off the teeth brushing routine. She is still at the stage where she will bite on the toothbrush rather than brushing it. When her supply of "First Teeth" Toothpaste runs low, her interest runs low too.

Last month, i bought her a stool so that she can stand higher and reached the wash basin to wash her hands on her own as it is getting harder for me to lift her up. I also change her toothpaste to Pureen Fluoride Free Toothpaste and put her toothbrush at a lower level so that she can reach it easily.

It must have makes her feels that she has grown up more!

She finally did a few stroke brushing her front teeth and i will usually helps her with the others. Sometimes, she will demand to help me brush my teeth with my toothbrush too when i am brushing hers.

Preparing ourselves for bed is now officially another special playtime/bonding time for us.

Supplements during Pregnancy

Pregnancy is one time in a woman's life that doctors agree they need supplementation. During the first visit to the family physician or obstetrician, they will usually prescribe what had become known as prenatal vitamins. Intended to boost nutritional intake which are usually a multiple vitamin with extra folic acid.

Studies shows that woman who are taking at least 400 to 800 mcg of folic acid prior to becoming pregnant substantially decrease the risk of their child having a neural tube defect (spina bifida or hydrocephalus). This protection does not occur when supplements are begun two to three weeks after a woman discovers she is pregnant. Therefore, if there is even a slight possibility of becoming pregnant, a woman should be taking nutritional supplements.

My gynae had advised me to take folic acid throughout my first trimester. When i am in my 12 weeks, he suggested that i should take additional calcium, fish oil and other multivitamins. He introduced me Obimin Pluz which contains vitamins, mineral, DHA, EPA, folic acid and many more, all inside 2 tablets.

Since being pregnant with No.2, i had been reading a lot about Nutrition and Supplements in hope to give something better to No.2. Coincidentally, one of my friend suggested this book "Comparative Guide to Nutritional Supplements" by Lyle MacWilliam to me. The book scientifically rated and compared over 1,500 US and Canadian supplements (mainly multivitamins). It's actually an eye opening to see that many of the popular brands available in Malaysia failed the test badly and is actually containing toxic.

I was then introduced to the product USANA (the No.1 brand in US/Canada according to the book). I am hoping to check on Obimin Pluz's scores with the book however the product is not included in the test as Obimin Pluz is from Indonesia. Since supplements are a must during pregnancy, why not choose a good brand? Hence i had since started taking Essentials (Multivitamins), Active Calcium Plus, Biomega III Plus and Proflavanol from USANA.

The great things about it is that i don't have the urge to puke anymore as compared to the time when i was taking Obimin Pluz. There's no fishy smells that makes me sick. The size of the tablets are almost the same as Obimin Pluz tablets (except Proflavanol) and it is easily dissolved in water.

I am taking the tablets twice a day and am hoping for the best for the little ones.

Lunch at Garden Lifestyle Restaurant, Mid Valley

My parents, hubby, little Moo Moo and I went to Midvalley last Sunday. We reached around 12 noon and it was a pleasant day indeed as there were very less traffic. We even managed to find a parking space in less than 20 minutes time which is very rare for Midvalley as the traffic is mostly jammed up queuing to go into the carparks as early as 11am even on weekdays.

Moo Moo didn't managed to get her mid morning nap as she was too excited to be in the same car with grandpa and grandma.

Moo Moo started to act cranky after shopping for her panties at Jusco hence we decided to go for lunch at Garden Lifestyle Restaurant in hope that the little one can be nicely feed and get some rest. The environment and the service of the restaurant are good.

When the waiter pass us the menu, Moo Moo took over my menu and don't even allow me to look at it. She continuously close my menu when i attempt to open and look at it. Seeing this, the waiter gave us a kids menu instead.

Moo Moo is very happy to see the kids menu. She pay full attention to it, studying all the nice pictures in the kids menu. To everyone surprised, she suddenly pointed to one of the picture and says "Fish and Chips" happily while looking at the waiter. Moo Moo ordering for herself for the very first time and the picture indeed shows "Fish and Chips". After that, she finally allows me to look at my menu.

Our order for that day:

1 Curry MeeHon for mummy
1 Nasi Lemak + 1 ice lemon tea for daddy
1 Salted Egg Fried Rice + 1 carrot milk for hubby
1 Spaghetti for me
and 1 Sausage, Corn and Mashed Potatoes set for Moo Moo. She changed her mind to this when she sees her favorite corn.

Moo Moo took her lunch without much fuss. She finished almost half of her kids meal and some portion of my spaghetti.

Everything turns out quite nice except for the curry meehon. The bill comes out to be RM100.10.

Moo Moo dosed off in hubby's arm about half an hour after that hence we were forced to shorten our stay at Midvalley as we forgot to bring the stroller along.

Bunny Dear - Boy or Girl

It's a beautiful day today.

The Gynae had told me during my last checkup, saying that we might be able to know the gender of No.2 today. Hubby was supposed to go to the check up with me but something happened in between and hubby had missed the chance to see No.2.

The traffic is normal, i reached just on time for the appointment. My current weight is 63.4kg and i had actually lost 0.5kg since i first weight myself last February during my first visit to the gynae. The blood pressure and the urine test turns out normal.

Time for the scan. The doctor did a detailed scanned for me today to determine the gender of No.2. The doctor was joking all the way. Asking No.2 to open up the legs so that he can check.

No.2 is very co-operative. This time, the doctor is very sure to announce

http://hubpages.com/hub/baby-clipart

Unlike when i am having No.1, the doctor just asked me to see for myself.

The doctor also says that No.2 is not shy at all and he is having long legs, just like his sister.

Pacifier

Little Moo Moo had started the pacifier during sleep time when she is merely 3 months old. She is currently using the one from Pigeon. She is supposed to be on Step 3 now but the transition from Step 2 to Step 3 just doesn't work!

I had tried to introduced her to the Step 3 pacifier when she is about 12 months old. Whenever i put it in her mouth, the pacifier will slip out of her mouth naturally as if it just can't stay fix to her mouth. After a few try, Little Moo Moo were stuck with Step 2 since then.

Throughout the past 12 months, little Moo Moo had since munch on not less than 4 Step 2 pacifier. I tried to switched her to Step 3 again last month but it still doesn't works.

I am planning to wean her off the pacifier soon and i had to do it fast as her addiction to the pacifier seems to be getting severe recently. I had been reminding her these days that the current pacifier will be the last one for her. If she broke it again, she will not be allowed to get a replacement anymore.

She knows that i will take her pacifier away from her every morning when she is drinking her milk with her milk bottle. Nowadays, she will hide the pacifier behind her back when drinking her milk. She will resume back her pacifier sucking when she is finished with her milk. I will then have to con her to hand out the pacifier by offering her daily does of Vitamin C.

Any of the mothers out there have a good idea to share?

Potty Training

I know a lot of parents out there started to potty train their children when they are still at their infant stage. I started that too with Little Moo Moo when she is merely 2 months old. I can still remember how big the potty is as compared to her tiny little butt.

Something happens in between (which me and even the baby sitter cannot recall) and Little Moo Moo had stopped using the potty when she learns to walk.

Both me and baby sitter had try numerous ways to encourage Moo Moo to use the potty again but ended up being disappointed. When she starts to walk, she will hide in a corner whenever she wants to poo. She will poo in her diapers and will only comes out from her hideout/corner when she is done with her big business.

During the last week, Little Moo Moo had suddenly agreed to be diaperless during day time. She had been diaperless for the past 1 week and only wears her diapers for afternoon nap and bedtime. Whenever she wants to use the potty, she will run towards me and tell me about her needs even when we are out shopping last weekend. She will pull down her pants and sit on the potty all by herself and will always end her business with a big smile on her face.

Although its just a small milestone, I felt so proud of my little girl. It's really true that one need not have to rush to potty trained a child. When the time comes, the child will automatically grow out of their diapers.

Good job my girl, good job indeed. Mommy is so proud of you.

Accident: Slammed finger

I was in the car with little Moo Moo last Sunday waiting for hubby to finish his errands.

I was seated at the drivers seat while Moo Moo at the passenger seat beside me eating her cereal bar. Everything was fine until Moo Moo climb to the back seat behind the driver seat and started playing with the electronic window.

I heard the sound of the window winding down so i quickly wind it up using the master control and lock the window. To my horror, Moo Moo suddenly cry out loud! It's too late when i found out that Moo Moo had actually slammed her finger in between the window!

I felt so bad as i didn't check on her before winding up the window. Her middle finger on the right was swollen. There's a red line in the middle of her finger nail. I was panic, i don't have any medication with me and i have no idea what to do to ease her pain. I just suck hard on her middle finger and hope for the best.

Little Moo Moo cry so hard while i hug her tight and try to comfort her. I try to ask her to move her fingers to make sure that it is all right.

She was so in pain for the next few hours. She didn't even dare to use her right hand while playing.

I felt relieve that Moo Moo's finger had recover the next day and her fingernails is not damaged.

Here is a link to treating smashed finger. I really don't hope that there will be a second time. However, accidents do happen and it's better to be well prepared/read up than be panic when it happens.

Confinement Lady In Malaysia

Seeking help from a confinement lady during the confinement period is a norm for Chinese in Malaysia.

Some mommy who are more fortunate will have the help of their mother,in laws or female relatives to help during the confinement period while some who were less fortunate might have to do it all by themselves or engaged the help of confinement centers that provide full service or partial service (for example, you can opt for ordering confinement meals send to your doorstep instead of having a confinement lady staying with you for the whole month and helping you with the cooking and baby).

During my pregnancy with Little Moo Moo, my EDD falls within the Chinese New Year period. The cost of hiring a confinement lady will be double the normal market price hence I hire a part time maid instead to help my mom preparing all the confinement needs. This time round, i had decided to hire a confinement lady as my mom is aging and it hurts to see her preparing and doing so many things during my last confinement.

It's always not easy to find a good confinement lady. My friends had advise me to engage a confinement lady as early as possible and if possible straight after the pregnancy confirmation (that means when pregnancy is still around 7-12 weeks) to prevent disappointment as many of the good ones will usually be taken up fast.

For the past days, i searched the web, visited parenting forums and talked to friends and i managed to gather a list of confinement lady with good reputations among forumers who are available throughout Malaysia. The list is as follows:-

Confinement Lady (2010: market price RM2800 – RM3500 + 2 angpaos for start/end work)

Bunny Dear 2nd Checkup

Went for my 2nd checkup at FMGC today.

Bunny dear is sucking thumb and dancing/moving around happily today. This is the first time i see for my own eyes that baby is actually swimming inside me! The experience is so good!

Bunny dear is supposed to be 10 weeks but the scan shows that baby is 12 weeks hence my EDD is revised to 14 Oct 2011 instead. Since i am now in my 12 weeks, i took the Down Syndrome test as well. Keeping my finger cross that the results will be fine.

What a relieve to see baby growing so well.

Fever again

Moo moo is down with fever again. I had really ran out of idea why she falls sick so often. She had just recover from her previous illness and finished her last dose of antibiotic last Monday!

She had just started to eat more and had finally gain back a few pounds. We had take precautions to make sure that she doesn't catch the flu bug due to the rainy season. To my horror, early this morning, i feel the heat again.

She wake up merrily this morning even before i wake her up. She finishes her 71/2 ounce of milk and enjoy the TV show. She is doing extremely well this whole morning except the heat in her. I checked her temperature before sending her to the baby sitter and it shows that she is 38c.

Baby sitter called me up in the afternoon and told me that Moo Moo is 38.4c and refuse to eat porridge for lunch. She just took a few bites of meat.

I had google the web just to check whether there's any toddler out there that had similar condition with Moo Moo and it seems that one of the reason is middle ear infection. Should i take moo moo to the ENT for checkup? Her paed had always treat her as having viral infection. Should i change moo moo's milk to a better one? She seems to fall sick more often after changing to this milk powder.

I had to decide fast.

MooMoo down with sickness again

Little Moo Moo is down with sickness again.

She had not been sleeping well for the past few days. Waking up middle of the night crying without any reason.

On Tuesday night, i saw a slight dot of yellowish discharged in her eyes and i said to myself "Maybe she is just heaty". Wednesday morning. Moo Moo wake up with both her eye lids glued together by the yellowish discharged. She cried like mad when i try to wipe her eyes with a wet cloth. She didn't sleep well either the whole Wednesday afternoon as she cannot breath smoothly.

Bring her to the doctor at night. The doctor said that it is not eye infection. It is caused by the bacteria due to her flu and had since spread to her eyes. The doctor prescribe Moo Moo with eye drops and flu medicine.

It's really hard to put eye drops into a toddler. After so many tries, we only managed to put 1 drop each to both eyes instead of the recommended 2 drops. I even tried to put the eye drops while she is asleep and yet she felt uncomfortable with it.

Moo Moo didn't sleep well again on Wednesday night however, the yellow discharged is lesser this morning. Really had no idea how to make my girl healtier. She is really very pron to sickness since the past few months.

Updates:

11 March 2011 (Friday)

Moo Moo was down with high fever and cough on Friday night. Gave her cough medicine and paracetamol to control her condition. However, she cough very badly especially during night time and she is very scared of vomiting.

12 March 2011 (Saturday)

Moo Moo didn't take much food the whole day. She only managed to finish half of her daily milk intake, a sausage and some bread. She vomited 4 times this the morning due to the phlegm and it makes her very scared whenever she cough.

13 March 2011 (Sunday)

Brought her to the doctor again on Sunday morning. Doctor see a slight redness in her ears which might be ears infection. The bacteria must have spread to her ears! Doctor presribed her with antibiotic and cough medicine.

Current age: 2 years 1 month
Current weight: 10.9kg
Medicine dosage: Paracetamol : 4ml
                           Cough medicine: 2.5ml
                           Flu medicine: 3ml
                           Antibiotic: 5ml

Moo Moo seems to be feeling much better after taking the antibiotic. She even follow hubby for grocery shopping in the afternoon while i lazed around at home getting some sleep as to hope that i myself can cure from sickness as well.

Moo Moo pooed very smelly and blacked colored poo at night. It should be a good sign that she had finally discharged all the bad bacteria inside her. After the poo poo, she became very energetic and asked for food!

She slept well the whole Sunday night.

* I am lucky that i don't need to struggle when feeding my girl medicine. She is always the one who asked for medicine and will sometimes self feed.

Second Opinion

Went to consult Dr. Patrick yesterday at his new office in Jaya One. It's quite difficult to find the place if you are not familiar with the area. Thanks to my sis in law, we made it just on time for the appointment.

Dr. Patrick did a vaginal scan with me and found everything to be normal. The blood clog that i mention to him is nothing to be worried about. According to him, he thinks that it is actually a slight scratch instead of a blood clog and it will not cause any harm. I can continue with Duphaston as it is safe to be taken. However, i had make up my mind to stop taking it as my morning sickness become worst after taking the medicine.

I felt so relieve after the consultation and will definitely continue with my check up with him instead of doing it in TMC. On top of that, his fees is much much cheaper.

Duphaston ?

I am not feeling well mentally for the past days after going for the 1st check up. After browsing through the www on Duphaston, i had actually stopped taking it after taking it 4 times. I don't experience stains, blood from my vagina, cramp or felt unease throughout my 7 weeks pregnancy and i don't have a history of miscarriage. I really don't know why i was prescribed with the medication. What troubles me more is that this medication is actually not advisable to be taken after pregnancy is confirmed!

After taking Duphaston 4 times, i had the uncomfortable feelings as if my period is coming and it freaks me out. I am always on alert mood, worried that blood will flushed out of my vagina anytime of the day.

I will be seeking 2nd opinion from Dr. Patrick this coming Monday. Pray hard that everything will be fine.

Pregnancy No.2 : 1st check up at 7 weeks

I went for my 1st checkup at Tropicana Medical Center (TMC) yesterday with Dr. Dev. Menon.

TMC looks more like a hotel to me as it really don't give me the eerie feeling of being in a hospital.

I reached TMC about 10:45am. Registered myself at the registration counter. Waited about 30 minutes until a nurse attended to me asking me some personal questions and details. The nurse seems to be shocked to know that i came for my pregnancy confirmation checkup as the center focus more on the infertility issues.

Everything goes according. I had my height and weight checked. My blood pressure checked and urine checked. Everything turns out normal.

I finally meet up with Dr Menon for the very first time around 11:45am (few minutes after my supposed appointment time of 11:30am). He is a very friendly doctor and the way he talks feels good.

He did the abdominal scan and confirm that i am 7 weeks pregnant. Everything is right on track and baby is growing well. However, he found blood clog outside the sac and this troubles me a lot. He told me that it's quite normal for my age and it's mainly due to hormone. However, I became panic inside me and didn't really managed to catch what else he wanted to say after that.

I was put under medication  (Duphaston, 2 table, 3 times a day for 4 weeks) and is asked to come back to see him in 4 weeks time to check on the status.

The bill ends up a whooping RM700++ . (Consultation RM180, Abdominal scan RM100, Admin charges RM3, Medication RM400+).

I can't really rest well after coming home from the medical center. I think i will opt for second opinion from Dr. Patrick Chia in coming days.

Pregnancy: No.2 at 5 weeks

I had started feeling nausea and the urge for vomiting at this early stage of pregnancy especially during night time after dinner. It has not been as smooth as while i am having No.1.

I am happy to see that Hubby is putting effort in helping to take care of No.1 recently so that i can rest more.

I have yet to consider which gynae to go to and i had to decide fast as i will need to go for the first check up on week 7. Should i go back to FMGC or should i try TMC? The charges for both seems to be on the par. TMC is very near my office but i am more familiar and comfortable with FMGC's doctors and nurses.

Oh well, i will have 2 more weeks to think about it.

Happy Valentines Day 2011

A very special day to remember.

I had been feeling something different for the past few days.  I had the feelings that i am pregnant with No.2. I secretly bought a home pregnancy test kit and waited until today for the test.

I am having a mix feelings. I am not mentally ready for No.2 and yet i hope to have No.2 especially when seeing colleagues and friends with babies.

The home pregnancy test comes out positive early this morning.

I left hubby a surprise note and a valentines day present before going to work this morning. Can't wait to see hubby's reaction when home tonight.

According to the EDD calculations, No.2 is 4 weeks old and is expected to be delivered in mid-October.

I had started to take Folic Acid 5mg pills (alternate days) and hopefully No.2 will be better and stronger than No.1.

High fever again

Baby was down with high fever again a day after celebrating her 2nd Birthday.

This has been the second high fever attack since December.

She woke up with a temperature of 38c. I gave her a dose of 3.5ml Paracetamol before sending her off to the baby sitter. Baby recovered and everything went well until around 6:00pm. Baby sitter called me while i am on my way home from work. Baby was crying loudly and was attack by high fever again. When i reached the baby sitter's house, baby was standing in front of the door waiting for me. Her face is burning red hot. I took her temperature and it's 40c! I quickly gave her a dose of Veron.

Brought her to the doctor to double check baby's situation as we were to travelle back to Johor on Tuesday.

The dosage of Paracetamol was increased to 4ml as advised by the doctor. One dosage was given to baby every 4 hours to control her fever. This continued for 2 full days. Baby seems to be recovered on Thursday. However, her temperature rises to 37.7c again on Thursday afternoon. A dose of Paracetamol was given. She recovered and feverish again on Friday afternoon with slight cough and running nose. She even throw up when i feed her medicine.

I was panicked. We canceled all our Chinese New Year gathering  and drive around the town to find a clinic. I am worried that baby might be down with Denggi or even worst H1N1. We found a clicnic that opens for business on the 2nd day of Chinese New Year. It was packed with patients. I am not sure how long i had waiting for baby's turn. The doctor didn't suspect any Denggi or H1N1. He just listen to her lungs and check her temperature. He didn't even mind to open baby's mouth to check whether there's any ulcer in baby's mouth when baby felt reluctant to open her mouth. I really doubt the doctors ability.

The next day, baby seems to be a bit better. I can't wait to go back home to KL!

Baby thrown up one more time throughout  the journey home. Luckily her fever didn't attacked anymore.

Hope that baby can be strong and healthy soon!

2 Years Old

Baby is officially 2 years old.

We had a small house party with our family members.

I cooked spaghetti, potato and egg salad, baked some chicken fillet and salmon fish while hubby prepared some garden salad , taiwan sausages and mayo char koay. We ordered Dominos pizza too and bought the new Walls Selection Gold Series Ice Cream.

Since, baby's birthday is very near to Chinese New Year, most bakery shop are not taking last minute orders. I was very dissapointed with the quality of the cake. It seems to have been in the fridge for a few days. Gonna remember to order the cake at least 3 days in advance next year.

Eventough the cake taste badly, baby loves it very much. She had been singing the birthday songs, blowing imaginary candles and cutting imaginary cakes for the past few days.  She can't wait to blow the candles and cut the cake. She can't even wait till we finish singing her the birthday song. End up, she needs to blow the candles a few times so that i can take a photo/video of her with her light up cake.

Baby received a big angpao from grandma, 2 sets of cooking utensils from 2nd aunty, 1 big jigsaw puzzle from 1st uncle, 2 set of pretty dresses from baby sitter and 1 play dough set from DK.

Bicycle

Baby is always very excited seeing other kids on bicycle.

She loves to sit on the big bicycle and request to be pushed around the house compound.

Because of that, hubby had decided to present baby her very first bicycle on her 2nd birthday.

She is very excited when we bought  it back from the shop.

Even though she haven't learn how to cycle properly yet, she managed to step on the peddle and goes a few inch.

Cut, Wash and Cook

Baby loves to imitate me cooking.

She will wants to help me in the kitchen preparing vegetables whenever she sees me doing so.

She will stand on the dining chair beside me at the kitchen sink and do whatever i am doing or cutting with her plastic knife.

When i starts cooking, she will then insist to stand besides me at the cooking stove and cook her own version of food using the cooking pot. Her ingredient will usually consist of cereal and raisins.

Few more days till her 2 years old birthday. Hope that she will like the kitchen/cooking presents that the nieces and nephews had prepared for her.

Bacterial Skin Infection - Impetigo

Baby were having some itchy time at her buttock for the past few days.

It started with a little rash like an insect bite. I rub in some oilment and treat it as normal insect bite. However, things become worst when three little blisters appeared around the first rash. Within one day, the blisters burst burst and leave small wet patches of red skin that weep fluid. Gradually, a tan or yellowish-brown crust covers the affected area, making it look like it has been coated with honey or brown sugar.

Babysitter told me that it might be herpes hence to the doctor we go.

Doctor diagnosed baby as having Impetigo. It is one of the most common bacterial skin infection among kids.

Baby was given mupirocin oilment and oral antibiotics. Hope that the infection will heals soon.
